Break Free

Isaac wanted to bless Esau, but he cannot. So he cleverly reversed a small portion of Jacob's blessing for Esau's sake. Isaac said to him, "Suffer a little and then break free!"

Esau wept to his father Isaac. Esau begged for another blessing. Although Isaac knew that he cannot bless him, he gave Esau the right to break free his yoke. If you read carefully, you will see that Isaac hinted Esau, "By your sword you shall live, and you shall serve your brother; but when you grow restless you shall break his yoke from your neck."

Unfortunately Esau decided to hate Jacob for it rather than thanking his dad for giving him a free pass. He could have served Jacob a little while and then go free. He may triumph over Jacob saying, "Surely, our father had blessed you. But he also blessed me by releasing me from you so that I could also receive a blessing."

In the same way, God gave us all a free pass. It is up to us to choose whether we shall fill ourselves with the bitterness and hatred or allow ourselves to suffer a little and then break free.

Break free!
