Presenting Ourselves to Him (Num 6-8)

Nazirite vow and Levites vow awed me; they must be special to God.

Nazirite vow is "when either a man or a woman makes a special vow, the vow of a Nazirite, to separate himself to the Lord... all the days of his separation he is holy to the Lord."

Levite vow is "wholly given to Me from among the people of Israel. Instead of all who open the womb, the firstborn of all the people of Israel, I have taken them for myself... I consecrated them for Myself."

Nazirite vow is (similar to fasting) when you make an individual vow to God to give thanks or just to give honor. In the Bible, this vow includes five guidelines:
1. Voluntarily. One may enter this vow voluntarily. Samuel and Samson was presented by their parents to the vow (1 Samuel 2:8-28, Judges 13:1-5) and John the Baptist received the vow from the birth (Luke 1:13-17).
2. Both men and women can participate. (Women might need approval from her father or her husband if married in Old Testament)
3. Specific time frame. "when the period of his separation is over". Such as from Easter to the days of Pentecost
4. Specific guidelines and restrictions. To establish your vows. Nazirite will not drink wine (not even grape), go near a dead body, or shave their head.
5. Procedure to complete the vow. To celebrate, to put a strong finish to your vow. Nazirite will bring his gifts, and shave his head to offer it to the Lord.

Levite vow is when God has chosen you and called you into 24/7 ministry. God has a specific guidelines and restrictions for you to lead His people, to keep ourselves holy to Him. This vow doesn't include voluntarily, specific time frame, or procedure to complete the vow, but it includes:
1. God's calling. God called the firstborn to be given to Him from the people. In the same way, God called us to specific position in the ministry; we got to heed His leading.
2. Specific guidelines and restrictions. Levites shall serve at the tent of meeting, following the guidelines. What we should do and what we shouldn't do.
3. Procedure to enter the vow. Levites must be sprinkled with the water of purification, shaved their entire body, and wash their clothes and themselves, and then people shall lay their hands on them. We may have to change our old habits and establish our good characters (spirit of fruits) before we are ready to enter into 24/7 ministry.

Challenge: Make a voluntarily vow to Him and seek His specific calling for you.

Reading: Romans 12:1-2, Paul appeals to you, "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."
