What's Wisdom? (1 Kings 3-4)

"And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of mind like the sand on the seashore [his wisdom surpassed the wisdom of many people]."

Solomon is able to discern the truth in two women who fought over one baby by testing them. He asked them to allow a servant to cut the baby into half so that they can share, purposely to test the true motherhood. One lady decided to give up the baby in order to save the baby's life, and that shows the true motherhood. So, Solomon knew that this lady is the true mother!

Through this story, Solomon shows that he doesn't know who, but he is able to proceed the truth by testing the truth! In the same way, we need the gift of wisdom to be able to test whether they came from God or not. If they don't come from God, then they are evil. So we need to know whether they come from God (righteous), then they are good. If they don't, then they are evil.

Wisdom is the God given ability to know how to handle things right, not to be above the others (as in competition). So that the people can enjoy our peace under that kind of leadership. So many people from other countries went to Solomon because they saw something different in him!

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction." - Proverbs 1:7
