Up the Mountain (Numbers 27-29)

The Lord called Moses up the mountain to get a glimpse of the land since he won't enter the land because he had rebelled against His words once in the wilderness of Zen. And they talked when they are on the mountain, Moses asked God one thing, to bring him a new leader to lead the Israel. So the Lord answered his prayer saying, "Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him... you shall commission him in their sight. You shall invest him with some of your authority, that all the congregation of the people of Israel may obey."

This story reminds me of His command, Jesus called his twelve disciples to Him first before he gave his disciples the authority to do many things like he did. Called to Him, then received authority. What does it means to be called up to be with Him? It means to get know Him better, to talk with him like how Moses talked with the Lord before the Lord told him what to do. Moses went up the mountain alone, Jesus also went up the mountain alone to pray.

"Pray without ceasing" 1 Thes 5:17... but I like "Rejoice always" that comes before this verse. I think we need to keep rejoicing in Him, to reject any spirit of doubts or fears. Praising and rejoicing is our antibodies against the spirit of doubts and fears that will enable us to get our prayer released to Him. Without any distraction, we will be able to talk with Him better on the mountaintop like how Moses talked with Him alone. May we pray without ceasing!
